This program runs on volunteers!
Home games offer more than just the chance to play on our own turf. They are also where our team generates essential funds to run the program. Filling a shift in concessions or managing the clock during the game are the best ways to develop a sense of teamwork and belonging, both for you and for the player you support. Below you will see shifts for all home games through the end of 2026 - more will be added as the season progresses.
Advice for signing up to volunteer:
Think about the role you are most interested in (if you're not sure, scroll to the role descriptions at the bottom of this page). Then consider which type of game you will volunteer in: freshman, JV, or varsity. Once you know those things, you are ready to select your shifts.
Volunteer Roles
Gate Worker - shifts begin a full hour before the first game and continue until the end of the last game, but the work is easy. Just stay present at the entrance to sell tickets and ensure all guests pay for entry.
Concessions - first shift begins at least 30 minutes before the first game and runs through the end of the last game. Concession workers sell both hot and cold food and follow food safety procedures in accordance with our license. All profits from concessions go to the booster budget, which provides all the essentials for our players and coaches!
Book - the person in charge of the book records just about every detail of a game in a playbook. This person needs to be comfortable managing a lot of detail quickly. Sometimes coaches and referees will consult the book to verify calls, so accuracy and attention are important. And, you get the best seat in the house!
Clock - running the clock is both fun and focused work. This volunteer keeps the scoreboard updated and manages the start/stop of the clock, under the direction of the referees.
Announcer - this is the showman of the volunteer roles! This role often only takes place during varsity games and is responsible for pumping up the players and crowd by announcing each score and commentating on the game.
Gwen Berry (mom of Will Berry) is serving as the President of the Boosters. She heads up fundraising, budgeting, and ensuring that the players and coaches have the best possible experience.
Sarah Flannery (mom of Thomas Flannery aka TBoog) is serving as the VP of the Boosters. This means she will do whatever she can to support the other booster team members and all parents and caregivers of Dunbar basketball players.
